About Samantha Bennett
Samantha is a graduate student at Dalhousie University, starting her master’s degree in the Fall of 2023. Originally from rural Quebec, following the completion of her DEC in Health Science at Dawson College in Montreal, she moved to Halifax Nova Scotia in order to attend Saint Mary’s University. This past spring, she graduated from Saint Mary’s with a BSc (Hons) having majored in Environmental Science. During her time at Saint Mary’s, she developed an interest in soil science and soil biodiversity through being presented with the opportunity to work with the Conservation and Soil Ecology lab at Saint Mary’s. In combination with her interests in food security and the development of sustainable practices, this newfound interest in soil conservation led to her desire to study soil systems and soil conservation within the agricultural sector. Following the completion of her master’s Samantha dreams of pursuing a career in research and/or policy development that will help render Canada’s agricultural industry more environmentally sustainable.
