About Laura Apblett

Laura is a first-year master’s student from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. She recently graduated from UPEI with a BES and a BSc in biology, and she is now enrolled in the University of Guelph’s environmental sciences program. In her final year at UPEI, Laura had the opportunity to work with the soil research team at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, which helped her develop a dedication to soil and plant science. Her current research interests include environmental restoration, sustainable nutrient cycling, and agroecological practices. In her spare time, Laura enjoys reading at cafés and spending time outside. She also likes to meet animals and has a particular fondness for reptiles. (Pictured here with her is Gus, the resident gopher tortoise at Halifax’s Museum of Natural History.)
