About Kody Oleson

Kody Oleson is a M.Sc. student at the University of Manitoba. He recently received his BSc diploma with honours in Physical Geography from the University of Winnipeg. Kody’s previous research focused on controls of methane (CH4emissions from freshwater ponds near Winnipeg, MB. This project sparked his interests in the interactions between industry/agriculture and freshwaters. At the U of M, he will be studying the influence of 4R nitrogen management practices on direct and indirect emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O) through leaching and subsequent denitrification of nitrate (NO3–). His research will take place in western Manitoba where soils are light, well-draining, and low in organic matter content. In the future, he hopes to help mitigate anthropogenic threats to freshwater ecosystems. Kody writes spoken word poetry in his spare time.
