About Atzín San Román
Atzín San Román was born and raised in Mexico and later moved to BC. She obtained a B.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Victoria (2021) where she participated in analytical research of organoboron compounds. Atzín is fascinated by the continuously changing requirements of our society and has a deep interest in research surrounding environmental and analytical chemistry. She is starting a Ph.D. where she will be investigating how climate change and other anthropogenic activities impact organic matter functions. This will aid in the understanding of how land management and global environmental change will alter soil organic matter composition and the ability of ecosystems to sustain soil carbon. Atzín aspires to improve and develop methods and procedures that more deeply understand environmental processes and implement sustainable practices. Atzín also enjoys playing the guitar, volleyball, and scuba diving.
